What is the procedure for registering a new domain name?
Domain name registration procedure at Network Solutions has been changed. Network solutions no longer registers the domain name on a “BILL LATER” status. Payment is now due at the time of registration via credit card. GetSite can register your domain name for you, using the credit card provided by you. The registration fee is $35.00 to reserve for the first year with discounts available for extended terms. By selecting REGISTER FOR ME on the sign up form, you agree to this charge of $35.00 on the credit you supplied to us, in addition to the hosting and setup fees. New domain requests take 2 to 4 days for InterNIC to process. You will be notified by e-mail when this is complete.
InterNIC typically completes the registration within 24 hours, and propagation typically takes about 72 hours. Non-U.S. domain names must be registered by the end-user.
Let us know if you do not receive notification that a domain name has been either registered or transferred within one week. In the meantime, refer all concerns to Network Solutions the following link is for the Network Solutions help page http://www.netsol.com/en_US/help/index.jhtml . You can reach them by calling 888.642.9675 or 703.742.4777. Be sure to reference your NIC ticket number when contacting InterNIC.
How can I transfer an existing domain name?
Whether you place an order by telephone or via our online order form, be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain. We will send a modification template to InterNIC once your new account is activated. You should keep the service at the present site while waiting for InterNIC to complete the transfer. We will provide you with a temporary IP address so you can mirror the site on our server. All email and web pages will still be accessed from the current site. When InterNIC receives the template, they will generate an acknowledgment request (Ack/Nak) and send it to the email of the current administrative contact.
A) If the e-mail address of the administrative contact is accessible by you:
When you receive InterNIC's e-mail, simply reply to confirm the transfer. Very Important: Find line "0a". When you reply, place the letter “Y” at the end of the line.In your reply, you will find this line:
0a. (Y)ES (N)O.....:Modify the line in your reply as follows:0a. (Y)ES (N)O.....: Y(Please note that the e-mail confirmation message will come from domreg@internic.net.)Once the administrative contact acknowledges the transfer, InterNIC will update their records.
B) If the e-mail address of the administrative contact is NOT accessible by you:
Note: It is very important that you use the same company name and address on the template as that which is on file at InterNIC. If the company name differs from that which is on file, InterNIC will treat the transfer as a delete/new (see below), and will not allow the transfer to be completed.
You will need to prepare a fax on company letterhead, as follows:
- Include company name, address and phone number in the header
- Hand write NIC tracking number ( ex. "NIC-990622.ef37" it should be on the email that Internic sends to you. If you do not have a tracking number, call us at (954) 776-0901 and we will assist you.)
- Your fax note must include the following statement:
I authorize Network Solutions to transfer my domain "www.yourdomain.com" to Netdor Internet- Have the President or Vice-President of your company sign the request.
- Print the name and title below signature
- Fax this letter to 703.742.9552
"ATTENTION PROCESSING:" with the subject of "TRANSFER DOMAIN".All internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site locations. This is called propagation. Propagation is usually completed in about 72 hours, during which time visitors could get transferred to either site. At the end of the 72 hours you should contact the previous host to have them delete the old domain from their records and update their DNS record. If you use the same provider for your Internet access you will not be able to access your domain site at GetSite.net until they update their DNS.
In order to transfer a domain name from one organization to another, InterNIC requires that the original owner file a delete/new template. This template consists of 2 domain registration templates, combined into one e-mail. The first template deletes the registration of the original domain name, and the second re-registers the domain name using the new owners information. This request must be initiated by the original owner, as they are the only ones with the authority to make such a modification.

Will I be able to access my domain name with or without the WWW?
Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with or without the WWW in front. For example, you could access your site by going to "www.your-domain.com" as well as "your-domain.com".
Whom shall I contact regarding InterNIC billing?
Questions regarding InterNIC Invoicing and Payment Procedures should be referred to Network Solutions. You can reach them by calling 888.642.9675 or 703.742.4777 and selecting option number 1.
Customers wishing to make payment by credit card may call either 888.642.9675 or 402.496.9788 (outside the U.S.).
Every entity registered with InterNIC has a NIC handle. You can use the same NIC handle as contacts for several domains. This way, if you make a change to the NIC handle (i.e., the e-mail address), all domains using that NIC handle will be updated as well.
What are some common InterNIC problems Im likely to encounter?
The most common problems experienced with InterNIC stem from outdated or invalid contact information. Its important to keep the information for the contacts, especially the e-mail address, up-to-date. If a modification to the domain is needed and the e-mail address for the administrative contact is no longer valid, they will not receive the acknowledgment request, and the modification will take considerably longer.
The other common problem is using a different organization name on the template than that which is currently on file. InterNIC will not allow a transfer to be completed if the organization name and address information does not match. For best results, copy the information directly from the WHOIS and paste it into the order form.
Can I register a non-US domain name?
GetSite / Netdor can serve domain names other than .com, Net, or .org, but the end user will be responsible to register their domain name with the proper local authority within your country. Upon activating your account, GetSite / Netdor will provide you with an IP address that should be used on your domain application form.
Here are the steps for activating a non-US domain:
- Check with the agency in your country who manages domain names to obtain their registration procedures. You also need to get the proper form or template that is required for the registration.
- Submit your request for a GetSite domain account via our online form and use your domain name (ie. your_name.de or your_name.es ).
- GetSite will e-mail you an activation notice that will include an IP address.
- Complete the necessary information on your domain form or template and be sure to include the IP address that was provided by GetSite.
- When you register with your regional NIC, you will need to supply the names and IP addresses of the NAMESERVERS which will be servicing your site. We can provide you this information at the time you place your order.
Please e-mail support@getsite.net if you have any questions.
Many international NICs require that the account be open on our servers before they will allow the name to be registered. In those cases, you should allow 36 hours after your account is opened before attempting to register the domain name, as our nameservers will not require an authoritative response.
